The pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries generate a variety of products that can turn into annoying dust during production and packaging.
The food industry in general produces many different types of powder.

Some of the most common types of powder in the food industry include grain powder from filling silos and transporting grain; grain powder and flour powder from milling and grinding; cornstarch and other powdered starches; powder from transporting or grinding dried nuts and legumes; dehydrated milk and egg products; sugar powder; and cocoa powder.

The food industry also uses a wide variety of seasonings, flavourings and additives, some of which are dangerous in the concentrations to which workers are exposed during food production.

Dust control in food processing is important from both a food safety and a worker health and safety perspective.
